The Mason Transportation Corridor (MTC) is a 5.5 mile north/south transportation corridor, serving the central core of the City of Fort Collins. The MTC is a visionary solution to improve safety and mobility through choice, convenience and connectivity. A multi-modal solution to long-term transportation needs, linking the City's major activity center, districts and existing multi-modal transportation system. It will integrate motor vehicles, bicyclists, pedestrians and trains in a cohesive, attractive and well thought-out corridor design. A misconception about the project is that Mason Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. In reality, the areas of Mason and McClelland Streets that currently allow vehicular traffic will continue to do so. Read more about the Mason Transportation Corridor Downtown River District
The Downtown Development Authority and the City’s Transportation Services, Community Planning & Environmental Services, and Utilities departments have initiated this project to address the lack of sufficient public infrastructure in the Downtown River District area. The transportation and utility improvements that come about through this project will help this area achieve the visions and goals set forth by City Plan and the Downtown River Corridor Implementation Program. This project will determine improvements to support existing conditions as well as provide a framework for future development within this important area of Downtown Fort Collins. The Master Street Plan (MSP) is a map-based representation of the City of Fort Collins' long-range vision of its major street network. First implemented and adopted in 1981, the Master Street Plan is intended to reflect the functional class (the category of roadway, e.g. Arterial, Collector, etc.) of existing and planned roadways in the City of Fort Collins. The Master Street Plan also helps to guide the development of the future street system for the City and its Urban Growth Area (UGA). Continued population growth and even greater increases in personal trip-making have forced our community to expand available transportation choices. A balanced transportation system will help enable Fort Collins to retain its quality of life. At the same time, it is important to ensure that those using the various modes, or means of transportation, pay their fair share of capital and on-going expenses. Accordingly, the Transportation Master Plan examines not only current and planned future transportation system requirements, but also the financial mechanisms to fund these transportation choices. The US 287 / South College Bicycle Lane Project will develop a Vision Plan for the project corridor. The plan will accommodate cyclists of varied experience levels and provide connections to the area's on-street bicycle lanes and off-road multi-use trail system. There will also be priority recommendations for phasing the project to match current funding levels and as additional funding becomes available.
