REGISTER TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Safe Routes to School is always looking to partner with local volunteers to help ensure the safe activity of our community's youth. To register yourself as a volunteer with the Poudre School District follow the 2 easy steps at http://www.psdschools.org/programs/partnershipcenter/index.aspx.
After completing registration contact us at with your interests and how you would like to volunteer. Our community volunteers are the backbone of our organization and we appreciate everyone who donates their time and services towards the Safe Routes to School mission.
Options for volunteering include:
-
Safety Guard: Volunteer to improve safety at a school. Escort children across a crosswalk, remind kids to walk their bike in crosswalks instead of ride, etc.
-
Data Collection: Volunteer to conduct a site audit of a school's walking and biking environment. These site audits inform Safe Routes to School of the traffic dangers and safety hazards around schools which stand as barriers to safe commuting. This will enable the Safe Routes program to respond more effectively with capital improvement projects.
-
Special Events: These volunteers help out for events such as the annual International Walk and Bike to School Day, hosted the first Wednesday in October.
-
Encouragement Volunteers: Volunteers aid in the implementation of an encouragement program by handing out stickers and prizes, giving high-fives, and being enthusiastic about making healthy choices.
-
In-Class Education: Help teach children the valuable skills and necessary information needed to be safe while walking and biking to school.
A special thanks to all of our collaborative partners
