Willow Street Having won the National Gold Medal Award for excellence in parks and recreation management, the City of Fort Collins has long been recognized as a recreation leader both on and off the field. The Recreation Division maintains 10 facilities throughout the city and offers instruction and leagues in a variety of sports and activities. The Division provides recreation for older adults, people with disabilities, young adults, teens, youths and toddlers. The Adaptive Recreation Opportunities program provides accommodations, support and access information for participants with disabilities. The City of Fort Collins mission is to provide personalized, quality community services. The departments within the Cultural, Library, and Recreational Services (CLRS) area work with citizens to provide community enrichment that enhances life and contributes to the economic viability of the City of Fort Collins through education, leisure, and beautification. Specifically, the mission of the Recreation Division is to provide services that promote health, well-being, personal growth, and life enrichment for the community. Visitors to Colorado's "Choice City" will find over 40 parks with well-trimmed lawns and magnificent trees. The park sites are equipped with numerous tennis, basketball, volleyball, and horseshoe courts, sports fields, playgrounds, picnic facilities, and fishing areas. In addition, a 21-mile recreational trail system and over 5000 acres of preserved open space / natural areas delight hikers, joggers, cyclists, horseback riders, and nature lovers. Most facilities are a short 10 to 15-minute drive from anywhere in the city, and summer is a great time to enjoy your favorite recreational activities in Fort Collins. Golfers may choose from one nine-hole and two 18-hole championship City-owned courses or non-traditional golfers may try our disc golf facilities. Tennis buffs will find the Rolland Moore Park Racquet Complex to their liking with regulation tennis courts, platform tennis, and handball / racquetball courts. Cool off in one of the City's four swimming pools or enjoy other popular attractions such as an archery range, bicycle motocross, outdoor fitness courses, a world class horseshoe complex or a disc golf course. |
