Community Services

The Parks Division provides maintenance and other services for areas not always associated with typical park operations. A few of these services are detailed below.

Streetscapes
Medians, road surface, and parkways comprise the makeup of streetscapes. The maintenance of medians and parkways in Fort Collins is the responsibility of the Parks Division. Currently over 52 acres of streetscapes are maintained under outside contract. (Oak Street Median)

All new landscaped areas are irrigated. Should you notice sprinklers running during the day, or for extended periods of time, please call us at 970-221-6660. Over the next decade, all landscaped areas will be irrigated. Many old parkways do not have irrigation and will go dormant in the middle to late summer and turn a tan color. This is a normal process for the drought tolerant turf grasses planted in these areas.

Various medians and parkways are available for adoption through the Adopt-A-Median program which is starting 2/2007. Various forms of adoption are available. A small sign is placed at the adopted area with the adopters name. Adoptions are for one year and can be renewed on an annual basis. For more information call 970-221-6660.

Disc Golf Course

Archery Range
The City of Fort Collins has provided the current range for archers to practice since 1984. The range is maintained by the Fort Collins Archery Association under agreement with the City. All labor for upkeep is provided by the club and the City provides the materials. The range is open to the public free of charge. (Archery Range Targets)

Bow hunters use this facility for practice throughout the year. Broadheads, blunts, and crossbows are not permitted for use on the ranges. Boy and Girl Scouts, youth groups, Senior Olympics, and Special Olympics have used the range for training and competition.

The range features two practice ranges at marked yardages and an unmarked fourteen target field range that runs along the Poudre River. Tournaments are allowed by permit, but the practice ranges are open to the public at all times. There are also restrooms, picnic tables, and a shelter.

The range is found at the south end of the frontage road (go past the weigh station) on the southwest side of the intersection of Interstate-25 and East Prospect Road.

Any person wishing to rent the Archery Range for exclusive use must obtain an Archery Range Permit from the City's Parks Maintenance Division at least two weeks prior to the date of such event, program or activity.
