Project Impact - Monthly Update
May 15, 2000 to June 15, 2000

  • Real Time Flood Inundation Mapping:
The final phase of this project is in progress.

  • Increase in Flood Regulation Standards:
The Fort Collins City Council has passed a new ordinance that will make building regulations stricter in the floodplain of the Poudre River. This has been an ongoing effort by citizens groups and City staff that began shortly after the Fort Collins Flood of 1997.

  • Notification Education Video:
Filming is complete on our 12 minute video on early warning systems. This will be available for local distribution in schools, local video stores, and on our local TV station. Copies are currently being made.

  • Notification Brochure:
The Office of Emergency Management has completed the design on a brochure entitled "Integrated Emergency Management" describing mitigation projects and early warning techniques. The brochure will be used for public education.

  • 530 AM Road Signs:
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is making large road signs for I-25 and state highways promoting our 530 AM Emergency Radio. The Fort Collins Streets Department is also making smaller signs to be posted throughout the city.
