Project Impact - Monthly Update
March 15, 2000 to April 15, 2000

  • Real Time Flood Inundation Mapping:
We have selected final vendors for this project and it is well underway. We will have a demonstration available for those attending the Western Territory Workshop in San Francisco in May. This is a project that has never been developed before and we are very excited about what we are seeing so far.

  • OEM Website:
Our Natural Disaster Information Cards for Dispatchers have been extremely popular on our website. We are now in the process of developing a section on Wildland Fire Interface. We are also working on live stream and precipitation gage information to be displayed on the site.

  • Weather Service Video:
In cooperation with the National Weather Service, we filmed a video for national distribution on jobs in meteorology. The video focuses on getting junior high students excited about careers in the sciences and mitigation.

  • Notification Education Video:
Filming is in progress on our 12 minute video on early warning systems. This will be available for local distribution in schools, local video stores and on our local TV station by May 15th. From this, we will create and edit a 4 minute version to be shown at local movie theatres.

  • Bio-Terrorist Response Grant:
Fort Collins Office of Emergency Management was awarded a grant of $144,000 from the Department of Justice to develop a bio-terrorist response plan. The plan and an exercise should be completed by December 31st.
