April 15, 2000 to May 15, 2000
|
-
Real Time Flood Inundation Mapping:
The final phase of this project has begun, with completion of this project set for the fall.
-
OEM Website:
Planning and work continues on getting live stream and precipitation data on the website. We are also working with the fire department on a fire prevention section.
-
Stream and Precipitation Gages:
More gage installations have taken place this month, the radio repeater has been installed, and real time data is now coming in. Alarms will alpha page Stormwater and OEM personnel if the water limits go higher than set parameters. Glenn, Blair, Iola, and Marsha attended STORM Watch training, which is the software that provides us with the instant information.
-
Storm Drainage Project:
The City has started a multi-million dollar storm drainage project in the downtown area. The project will remove many residences and businesses in the downtown area from the floodplain by increasing the storm drain capacity. The new system design will accommodate 3.67 inches of rain per 2 hours rather than the current 2.89 inches of rain per two hours. The project will take approximately a year to complete.
-
Notification Education Video:
Filming is complete on our 12 minute video on early warning systems. It is now being edited. This will be available for local distribution in schools, local video stores, and on our local TV station.
-
Notification PowerPoint Presentation:
The Office of Emergency Management has completed a PowerPoint presentation entitled "Integrated Emergency Management" describing mitigation projects and early warning techniques. The presentation will be used for several purposes, including public education. It describes the projects and improvements we have been working on for the past two years.
-
New Partner:
We have recently partnered with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). They will have direct access to our 530 AM emergency radio station to report emergency road information. In exchange, they will be providing road signs on state highways in town and along I-25 announcing our radio station.
