Dead/Dirt Yards & Dilapidated Fences....What these new ordinances are all about
In an effort to keep properties from deteriorating and affecting the well-being of Fort Collins' neighborhoods, City Council passed two new ordinances regulating to dirt yards and dilapidated fences (those visible from a public street or sidewalk). Enforcement of these new codes begins in January 2009 and focuses on alternative resolutions for violations through assistance programs and volunteer help.

Looking for an opportunity to share your experiences of living in a Fort Collins neighborhood? Colorado State University Off-Campus Student Services and the City of Fort Collins Neighborhood Services Office are teaming up to host a community dialogue and are looking for participation from students and long-term residents.
Colorado State University is a vital part of Fort Collins, bringing economic benefits, cultural opportunities, and an ever-changing energy to the community. However, with differences in lifestyles between students and non-student residents, the City and University know there is potential for conflict and tension in our neighborhoods.

How Do You Say It?
Have you ever had a neighbor with a barking dog? Or a noisy house on your block? And did you wonder how you might best convey this information to those neighbors? Neighborhood Services is offering up a few "template letters" to help neighbors deal with sticky situations. You can use these letters and fill in your own specifics. Even if you don't want to send a letter, these may give you some ideas on how to approach a neighbor and start a conversation. We have also included a "Welcome Letter" that may help break the ice as you meet and greet new neighbors!
