Requesting Easements from the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program
Requesting EasementsEasements or rights-of-way permission must be granted by the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program prior to any work on/access to the City’s Natural Areas.

Typical projects requiring easements or rights-of-way include but are not limited to streets, water, sewer, drainage, flood control, electric power, and telecommunications facilities. The Application Procedures, Easement Policies and General Resource Protection Guidelines, Standards and Guidelines for Restoration of Utility Easements and Checklist for Utility Easement Applications set forth in this website applies to projects of the City of Fort Collins as well as those proposed by other public entities, for example special Utility Districts, and private parties. The policy does not apply to trails, parking lots, interpretive features or other facilities that are proposed as part of the management of the public natural area. Please note that these policies may apply to projects on lands that are co-owned by the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program with other entities such as Larimer County Open Lands, check with staff about your particular situation.
