Soapstone Prairie Natural AreaThe Fort Collins Museum, in conjunction with the Natural Areas Department, is working on an Oral History Project to capture the stories of the many people who have used the Soapstone Prairie land. Supported by a Preserve America grant from the National Park Service, this project will tell the stories of the Natives, ranchers, homesteaders and others who have used the land. The Local History Archive is celebrating the one-year anniversary in its new home at the Fort Collins Museum with a new exhibit entitled Snapshots of Sandstone: A Pictorial History of the Fort Collins Museum Building. Featuring over 40 archival images dating from the 1880s to the 1970s, the exhibit traces the rich history of the 104-year old Carnegie building from its roots as the public library building to the present day as the Fort Collins Museum.
