Friends Board meeting in the Evelyn Clark Classroom

In the spring of 2001, the Friends of the Gardens on Spring Creek was established for the purpose of providing support for the Gardens on Spring Creek and to aid the implementation of its mission and strategic plan. This includes such objectives as promoting awareness, building and sustaining membership, and securing funding and other types of support. The Friends board accomplishments include the following:

  • Established a dues-paying membership, currently at more than 200 and growing
  • Produces a semi-annual newsletter
  • Organized and held the largest event at the Gardens on Spring Creek, Harvest Festival, which drew over 1000 people in 2008
  • Directly involved in the successful fundraising of approximately $250,000 towards the construction of the Evelyn Clark Classroom and the Children's Garden
  • Directly involved in the successful fundraising of approximately $70,000 for the Garden of Eatin'

The Friends of the GOSC is currently operated by a nine member board. New appointments to the board are considered on an ongoing basis. The board members serve three year terms, and are committed to offering at least 5 hours per month. If you are hesitant to commit that much time or want to become more familiar with the board before making such a commitment, you might want to consider serving on a committee or volunteering for a specific project and tasks.
